Joan Lule, a presenter at #TheCocktail, a morning show on Top TV, is in the spotlight after she embarrased and humiliated Miss Uganda Oliver Nakakande for what she termed as “losing the Miss World Pageant.”
“By the way, you lost. How does that make you feel?” Lule began her disgraceful morning.
While attempting to hold her cool in a highly provocative moment, Ms Nakakande informed the presenter that she didn’t actually lose. She went ahead to list down all her accomplishments at the pageant that included coming 4th, gracing the Miss World Magazine Cover and most importantly winning the Head to Head competition where she shone a light on the plight of the girl child in Uganda and the general poverty stricken society.
She made known to the world, all the problems facing girl children in Uganda and Africa, a society where a large section of the population survives on less than a dollar a day. “One in four girls in Uganda is either pregnant or with a child by the age of 19 and it is so sad considering that majority of the population survives on less than a dollar a day.” Nakakande highlighted at the pageant.
After witnessing the accomplishments of the reigning Miss Uganda, Lule (the presenter) sought to switch the conversation to President Museveni’s address, something that neither the Miss Uganda nor her co-presenters wanted to indulge in.
“I studied journalism and it is very offensive to ask someone such a question.” Nakakande said.
Lule said she didn’t intend to offend her but rather sought to cause her to list her accomplishments. However, she refused to offer an apology for her misgivings and Ms Nakakande requested that they continue the show without her.
