The Shonale show last Saturday evening marked the beginning of events this year after it sold out at Lugogo hockey grounds with performances coming from Ric Hassini from Nigeria as well as Uganda’s Elijah Kitaka, Joshua Baraka and Fenon Record’s Warafiki.
Revelers started accessing the event as early as 5pm, taking selfies and videos, perhaps to update their loved ones on their whereabouts while enjoying mixes by Djs Alza and Ssese.
The celebrated Nigerian artiste gave his all to this show, doing covers, his original compositions and collaborating with Ugandan acts live on stage.
Among the songs he did include Only You, Thunder Fire You, Ngozi, Angel, My Only Baby, Number One and For Instance among others that had the whole audience cheering him on.
Joshua Baraka did two songs including ‘Dalilah’ before jumping on Nana that drove the ladies wild.
Before Baraka’s segment, Swangs’ golden boy Elijah Kitaka reaffirmed his prospect as the next big thing performing Nothing, Ndi Wuwo, Elevated off his albums Bedroom Essential.
It was now time for Fenon Record’s new signed artistes Warafiki to prove whether they deserved to be on such a stage. The three years that they have been undergoing training at the label was evident with their showcase. They coordinated well, complemented each other and had chemistry on the stage with their Wakati song.
“This is the third time I am watching these girls performing but I am impressed. They are really progressing on well,” said a reveler at the show.
Zuba and Saint Trevor were the hosts of the evening and interacted well with the audience.
