For the most part of this month, the entertainment scene has been buzzing over a musical battle between two divas, Sheebah Karungi and Cindy Sanyu who have for a long time, been at loggerheads about who has achieved the most in the music industry.
To let this musical battle come to a reality, Victoria University, under the steer of their Vice Chancellor – Dr Lawrence Muganga deemed it necessary to resolve the contention between the two artistes by setting a physical battle in concert style.
Anyone would wonder why an academic institution, such as Victoria University, involved itself in the feud between the two artistes. Well; Campus Bee has learned that the whole motive surrounds marketing the institution.
On NBS’ After Five Show, presenter Douglas Lwanga explained that since entertainment is a center of attention to the young population, Victoria University took it as a channel to market its study programmes.
“Television advertising doesn’t create talk-ability and attention. In advertisement, you look for the easiest way to attract people and one of the things to use is entertainment because it converges people and draws attention”
Important to note: Sheebah was unveiled as Victoria University ambassador in May this year. This also points to answer why the University jumped in to support the battle in which the artiste is involved.
The dispute between the two artistes began when Cindy announced her concert on the same day and same venue as Sheebah’s Yolo festival.
Come September 15th, 2023 – the musical battle, organized by Victoria University, will be settled in a concert at Kololo where the two singers will share the same stage.
On Monday, Sheebah surprisingly walked out of a press conference which was aimed at setting the stride, in build up to the September battle. Briefly before she walked out, she grabbed a microphone and spit cryptic statements to her critics.
