There are 15 teenage girls eyeing the coveted 2015/16 #Mirinda Miss Teen crown, but one will take the title when the curtains come down on the competition’s Season 4 on August 29 at Kati Kati in Kampala.
The girls were selected following an intensive, but exciting search which attracted at least 800 girls across the county, mainly in Bushenyi, Jinja, Mbale, Gulu, Lira, Mbarara, Kampala, Iganga, Mayuge, and Wakiso districts.
Mirinda Miss Teen is an annual talent contest that aims at showcasing the great talents and characters of today’s teenage girls.
This year’s theme is; “Work Hard, Play Hard”; meaning the next Mirinda Miss Teen will be a girl who is not only beautiful and smart but is also fun-loving.
“We decided to sponsor the 2015/16 Mirinda Miss Teen edition because it’s still the most relevant platform that helps the brand connect with its primary audience; a young girl with the attributes that Mirinda embodies. The heavy investment we have made behind Mirinda Miss Teen implies that we are going to have a grand ending to the competition in terms of entertainment and the entire organisation,” says Mr Innocent Tibayeita, the head of marketing and sales at Crown Beverages Limited, the bottlers of Mirinda.
“Mirinda Miss Teen helps the youth to release that inner spontaneous playful spirit that is within every one of us. In so doing, Mirinda Miss Teen brings to life our exciting thematic campaign, free your fun side. We had a great school tour that took us to the North, for the very first time in the competition’s history and we expect an all-encompassing representation of the teenage girls from all corners of the country on August 29,” Mr Tibayeita adds.
Other categories were teens will be competing in are; Miss AMBITIOUS, MISS FASHIONISTA, and Miss PLAY HARD.
Fifteen-year-old Keza Namazzi from Mt. St. Mary’s Namagunga is the reigning Mirinda Miss Teen, and second runner-up was Gloria Rutaremwa of Seeta High. Marianne Katusiime, now of Gayaza High School, was the first runner-up.
The 2015 Mirinda Miss Teen contestants are; Carol Bwengye (Iganga Girls), Grace Katusiime (Mbale Progressive), Atim Alaro (PMM Girls Jinja), Nansove Vanessa (St. Joseph’s Nsambya Girls), Zaraba Kanyango (Nabisunsa Girls School), Bugosi Amelia (Trinity College Nabbingo), Budesian Kyagera (Rubaga Girls Secondary School), Nimwebaza Keisha (Gayaza High School), Akelo Shirley (Sacred Heart Gulu), Arach Phionah (St. Catherine Lira), Prudence Nafungo (Gulu Central), Sandra Murungi (Eden International Mbarara), Lynate Tumwikirize (Plus Two High School Bushenyi), Rebecca Nyakonda (Hana Mixed), and Yvonne Mugeni (Seeta High).
The winner will take home Shs2 million worth school fees for a year, 1st runner-up Shs1.5 million and 2nd runner-up Shs1.2 million.
Mr Timothy Luzinda, the Mirinda brand manager, says teenagers should expect to experience the utmost definition of fun and pleasure at the grand finale.
A rich line-up of Ugandan musicians and other performers, and celebrities will be present and a host of fan challenges have been developed to enable teenagers win lots of Mirinda goodies.
The Shs5,000 entrance to the venue will come with a free Mirinda soda.
