You have been that scruffy, lazy, unkempt guy in school or maybe not, but it’s your graduation and you need to make a statement on the day you transition into a career man. The problem however is that it’s tough to know what you’re looking for in terms of fashion style and personalizing your suit to suit your taste and the possible costs to be incurred. Worry no more, Campus bee has got you covered.
Colour
The first option you have is choosing a colour that is in style. Blue can do the trick, making you stand out in a sea of suits. However, desist from the shouting blue that will make you uncomfortably shiny and spoil your day.
Alternatively, you could stick to the legendary black suit, white shirt and black tie. It is hard to go wrong with this colour. If you’re not the daring type, feel free to rock in black. Additional advantage is; this suit will rock every formal occasion that comes your way.
On the other side, if you’re a little more daring and willing to make a statement at your graduation, striking sharp colours can do for you. Am not talking yellow or red here but a maroon shade like the one worn by Messi last year, 2014 ballon d’or would do you good.
Style
Buy a suit that is your size. If you’re borrowing, then fit it for the day. Lets face reality, the 80s are long gone and it’s time to look like a 20 something year old. Take note: An ill fitting suit will do nothing to improve your look.
Buttons
To many, it’s been a system where you just throw on a hoodie and go to class so the button science might not be familiar. Just don’t assume it’s ok to leave your jacket open to flap as it wishes. For two button jackets, simply fasten the upper button and leave the lower one undone. For the three button jacket, it’s your decision to make whether to leave top button closed or not. It is however preferable that you leave at least a button open.
Shirt and Tie
Just make sure your selection matches your suit on this one. Preferably buy a new shirt for the sparkling touch it will give your suit.
Shoes
Your suit and shirt make an impression but it will all be lost if you have the wrong shoes. Whether black shiny or brown, noticeably worn out shoes won’t do. Match you shoe with your best to make a statement. This takes us to the biggest concern…
Cost
We all know men attire are not a joke pocket wise more so when it comes to a suit. Now however, you not only need a suit but a new shoe, shirt and also a tie. What is the price range of the items?
A good suit should be between 200,000 to infinity. Note; cheap or expensive, a well matched and accessorised suit will look better.
If money is in your way, you can borrow a suit. Alternatively, keep it in mind that this is almost the last free money you will get from your parents so take the chance and demand to look smart. Yes, I said it.
Suits can also be hired from shops. The trick is to first ask for the real price of the suits you are interested in before you tell the seller you need a hire. That way, you will be able to estimate possible hiring money and be at bargaining advantage.
