Everywhere all around the country students do internships; they are a big step towards one’s future career development. It’s imperative that one learns all the basics of internship especially the dress code before they apply in the various organization and companies. Interns may be students but at this point you become employees without payment. Making a great impression coming across as polished, professional, and attentive is important when it comes to your internship success. Drop the jeans, spiked heels, caps, designer tops with outspoken initials printed on, cover any body piercing you may have because during internship, one has to dress to impress, or else, well, the road to your future career may hit a dead end. And just like an interview, internships also call for certain behavior for instance you can’t smartly dress in a suit then you go around chewing while pocketing! Dressing and manners go hand in hand, here are some tips on how to dress for internship.
Babes:
1. Wear moderate shoes, low heels and pumps are the perfect shoes for this as interns tend to move around a lot. Perfect thing is, they’re both legit and comfortable.
2. Endeavor to have neat and professional hairstyle, drop the bright colored weaves and threads. 3. Have a limit on your jewelry, avoid wearing too much makeup and bling.
4. Lastly don’t underdress, it’s much better to be overdressed than underdressed, put more emphasis on darker colors than extra bright colours. Bright colors call for too much attention.
Dudes:
1. A long sleeved shirt, official as well as casual, it varies on one’s workplace. Suits also come in handy; avoid wearing vests, t-shirts with weird logos.
2. Sandals, sneakers or any open shoe ain’t really professional at any workplace so I’d suggest closed gentle shoes.
3. A clean organised hairstyle and last but not least, go easy on the aftershave, you don’t want to be mistaken as the boss, do you? In conclusion, you should put in mind that internship is just a business casualty, a training of sort, you should look professional but still be comfortable enough to do all your tasks. Search for clothes that are easy to move in and comfortable, remember interns move around a lot, or sit a lot, according to where you’re working.
You have to be in line with the company’s dress code. Good luck, and remember if you’re not certain about the dress code, ask your supervisor or boss, or just monitor how people are dressed and fall in, enjoy your internship, peace!.
