When you speak of trends that have been there over generations, the plaid skirt is definately one of such. From your great grand mother down to your mother, they all saw the plaid skirt. The only thing that changes is the idea of how it’s worn and probably it gets bigger and better with time.

plaid

1. The pretty little plaid skirt paired with knee – high socks and oxfords or high boots. This is one of my personal favorites as it defines apart of my character. It’s fun and has a punk bit to it. And it’s so comfortable, you won’t feel like you ve exposed too much skin.

2. Short high waisted plaited skirts with a crop sweater or tee, combat boots, leather choker and back pack. This look was rocked in the 90 ‘ s by the teens and you too can pull it off. It’s chic and would definately draw attention to you.

3. The cheeky school girl look is a wild free yet naughty looking way of embracing the plaid skirt. How to pull it off? Opt for a not so short, though still mini, plaid skirt. Tuck in the sweater or shirt. Then get rid of the stilletos and trade them for ankle boots or sneakers instead.

4. And who said you can’t be decent and still fashionable? The longer hem plaid skirts, either A – line or pencil with side pockets is a great look to try out. Surprise your mother and go home dressed this way for a family gathering. You will be among the showstoppers i guarantee you. You can be twins your mother as she too might have rocked it in her days and would love to rock it in present day with you.

5. You could be grungy as well which is basically the shubby yet cute look. A knee length plaid skirt, with a dark shade of lipstick and ankle boots with messy hair. Oh yes, those bad hair and grumpy days are covered too! So weep not my cherié.

6. The knee length plaid skirt, be it A – line , pencil or pleated in wool or a thicker fabric are the heaven sent gifts to the working class trendy campus females. A plaid pencil skirt looking extremely gorgeous with a sweat shirt and stilleto pumps. A blazer added to it is the tip of the iceberg. Alternatively a pair of flat ankle boots, a plaid pencil skirt paired with a sweater. This is perfect for offices that have dress down days ie Fridays. Be sure to try these out during your internship too.

Pulling off an amazing plaid dress look is not any different. It’s as simple as munching on those crunchy nuts. Hence I will just summarise everything.
-belt it up
-pair it with tights
-wear it with a cute jacket preferably black (it depends on the color of the plaid dress)
-pair it with boots
-mix the plaid print with another pattern
-go easy on the accessories ie the jewellery
-wear it in black and white ( for those who like to keep it safe)
Like I always say, what better time to experiment with your fashion sense than now, while you are still young. For now, I sign out. #happy Friday
