Everyone is known to make a fashion mistake here and there, and that’s okay! Hopefully this will give you an idea on how to stay fashion forward by taking the advice from your fellow University student.Let’s go!!!
Over-advertising your favorite brand name
It’s okay to wear your favorite brand, but don’t over-advertise it. If you like the fabric, or the style and color there is always something out there that looks just like it and a lot cheaper. Guys, you don’t have to look like a Louis Vuitton or Gucci billboard to be stylish. Off-brand clothing looks just as nice and is a lot cheaper.
“Pants on the Ground:” (Balancing)
Do you guys remember that one man from American Idol a while back named Larry Platt who sang, “Pants on the ground/Looking like a fool with your pants on the ground.” Well he knew what’s up. I understand guys like Lil’ Wayne, but just because he has hit songs doesn’t mean you should take his fashion sense.
Wearing too much cologne Guys who smell like they took a bath in Axe body spray don’t have shawties running after them. The TV commercials are not true. Instead of doing “double pits to chesty,” try doing one or two little spritzes of cologne.
Ill fitted clothes
I think majority of the guys these days find it trendy to wear clothes especially pants smaller than their size.Yes, we know you are Ed Kenzo’s biggest admirer but hey, cut the color cause it gets you going Straka Baibey (lol) The right fit makes all the difference!
Baggy trousers, drooping shoulders of an oversized shirt is not a good picture. If your body is such that clothes off the rack do not fit then you should rush to a good tailor.
Avoid wearing a short sleeved shirt with a tie
Believe me, it’s a big fashion faux pas! It does not fit the corporate picture(if you intend to be one). Tie should always be worn with a full sleeved shirt; yes you can roll up the sleeves while relaxing.
The commonest of all: mismatched socks color with the bottom
The rule is to match the color of the socks with the bottom color and not the color of the shoes. And this goes without a doubt with the formals. With the denims, sporty white will do.
Coordination of the accessories– watch strap and the leather of your belt, should go hand in hand. As per the thumb rule, the leather color of your belt, your watch strap and your shoes should coordinate. Slight tonal difference of the same color family is allowed depending upon the extent of the difference in shades. Too much will not do. That also goes for the texture and shine of the threesome.
If wearing a casual shoe, the belt should be wider in width as compared to a thin formal belt
Socks with sandals…no, please! Avoid this combo like the plague.
A backpack with formals looks really tacky. Though its a common phenomenon in almost every faculty and everywhere, you can still be comfortable and look smarter if you carry a sling bag. It’s picture perfect.
Bulky front and back pocket– this fashion blunder is committed by almost all campus guys. It shows few observations. Either your trouser is too tight so there’s no space for the wallet and it bulges out, or your wallet is of improper size and width. Believe me, it makes you look like a guy with no dressing sense. Remove the extra baggage from your wallet. Make it light.
So always save yourself from the embarrassment and look your best.
