Out of all the latest designs from DT (down Town), there is always that most special and most expensive piece in your wardrobe, ‘the little dress’. We all know the legendary little black dress (aka LBD) that every lady should have. History has it that in the 20s black was for only funerals until Coco Chanel published a simple, short black dress in Vogue. It was accessible to women of all social classes “a sort of uniform for all women of taste.” Since then it was some kind of invisible rule for every girl to have an LBD in their closets. But who cares about the history of dresses anyway? It’s Campus and we get to bend the rules a little bit.
Every campus girl needs a lot of dresses but there is that one dress, the easy go to in the wardrobe Feminine or structured and fierce, a dress to suit every mood and situation. The so labelled LBD. But we all love different colours and few of you like black anyway. What better colour to have your favourite dress that you put on anywhere than in your best colour. It does not have to be strictly black. Fewer university girls are going for the black and targeting highlights (bright colours) when choosing their special pretty dresses, Doreen a boutique owner at Ganesh informed us. Therefore be it in blue, red, yellow, green, you need to treat yourself to one pretty dress in your wardrobe and no one is tying you down to the ‘black’ anymore. It is just your ‘little dress’.
