Airtel Uganda is set to offer free health services to residents of Kampala through a free community health fair that has been scheduled for the 28th of May 2016.
In partnership with the Hind’s Feet Project, a Non-Profit Organization that focuses on making health information accessible to all, the telecommunications company is going to hold the community health fair in an effort to improve the wellbeing of community members and empower them with the basic health information and services they need to make appropriate health decisions.
The health fair will be stationed at St. Joseph Mulago Community Center where different health services that include cancer screening, dental, eye care, general medicine, treatment of diabetes, ulcers, immunization, malaria, blood pressure , as well as screening for HIV, STDs, hepatitis B and cervical cancer will be provided to people from Kampala city and surrounding areas. The health fair also will include safe male circumcision.
Speaking about the upcoming health fare, Airtel Uganda Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Mrs. Charity Bukenya said “At Airtel, we aim to improve the lives of Ugandans, not only by providing them with affordable and reliable telecommunications solutions, but also by increasing knowledge on general health and the use of preventive health services to help them live healthy lives.”
“I encourage you all to come and take advantage of this service. It is free of charge and we hope that at the end of the camp, people will have developed more health seeking behaviors and practices that will help them live happier and healthier lives,” she added.
This will be the first Airtel health fair in 2016. Last year, Airtel Uganda held health camps in different parts of the country including Lira, Arua and Bugiri, where thousands of Ugandans were diagnosed and treated of different illnesses.
