You probably bumped into him around Campus, saw him on TV or just read about him some where. Dax Vibes is a younger brother to musician turned Member of Parliament, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu who beat all adds to graduate from Makerere University Business School (MUBS). Our reporter caught up with him for a little chit chat about his campus life, music and future plans. Sit back, marvel.
1. We all know Dax Vibes the musician but how does he describe him self?
Well, Dax Vibes is my popular/stage name. My given name is Bugembe Ivan Ssentamu. In a few words, Dax Vibes is a simple,easy and realistic guy.
2. What course did you pursue?
I did Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and I majored in Marketing.
3. Tell us about your three year experience at Campus.
Well, it wasn’t easy but I did what I could and am glad I made it through.
4. How were you able to juggle music and school?
Music is something I do in my free time, anywhere so it wasn’t so difficult for me. I tried to balance the two.
5. Did you have any embarrassing moments while at Campus? Tell us about them if any..
Yeah. They were few but I never put my mind to them. There was this one moment when a lecturer singled me out in class and said; If you’re not a deejay, you’re a thief. He told me that as a student I can never be successful in life if I have this hair. He said that students are not supposed to be like me, dress like me you know. It was embarrassing but I understood his perception.
6. What was that moment that will always make Campus life memorable for you?
The most memorable moment at campus was when I saw my name on the graduation list. I was so happy and then the other good moment was hostel parties after papers.
7. Being a renown figure, how did you handle students who would crush and stalk you?
I mean, there wasn’t a lot of crushing or stalking me because am a boy from the ghetto. I just liked making friends whoever came up, I welcomed them, make them a friend so there wasn’t a lot of crushing. I wasn’t so much at Campus.
8. Did you get into any relationships at Campus?
No. Fortunately or unfortunately I never got into any relationship. May be I was so busy in the outside life. I was just making friends. Boyfriends. Girlfriends.
9. Tell us about your plans for this year.
This year am going to give you good music. Lovely music. This year am just concentrating on love. I just want to make you happy with my love songs. I have a lot of love songs and collaborations this year. Good vibes running.
10. Last words to the fans and well wishers, Daxy?
To my fans, thanks for the support and love whenever I am down. You encourage me to do better. We shall get there. I am just going to be improving and giving you the best of Dax Vibes. Campusers, study hard and youths, ‘mwebelelemu’. Big up on your selves.
