What You Didn’t Know About UCU Mukono & East African University Games

Five thousand sports men have converged at UCU Mukono for this year’s mega sports event that will see the victors get themselves accolades in the their respective sport disciplines. But there’s what you simply didn’t know about the host to these East African University games.

UCU Mukono is a private Christian founded institution. It was founded in 1913 first as a seminary, Bishop Tucker Theological College and named in commemoration missionary bishop and Bishop of Uganda from 1897 to 1911 Alfred Robert Tucker for his services provided. In 1997 under the then Anglican chrch of Uganda, the theological seminary was turned into Uganda Christian University. In 2004 this institution acquired a chartered accreditation becoming the first Ugandan private institute of higher education to receive an acquired accreditation.

UCU Mukono hosted the 2007 and 2013 Inter University games and are the current hosts of this year’s East African University games [EAUG2014] The 39 universities are representing at the EAUG2014 and include;
