The Ministry of Education and Sports, through its top Administrator Ms. Janet Museveni, yesterday revealed plans of extending COVID-19 vaccination centers to Education Institutions.
The aim is to decongest the already established vaccination centers and this ploy was disclosed during the official release of last year’s Uganda Certificate of Advanced Education (UACE) results at State House Nakasero.
“Vaccination posts shall be extended to schools, universities and tertiary institutions. We hope this will reduce the congestion at the current centers,” the First Lady noted.
Most learning institutions are still closed as per the Presidential directive to curb the fast spreading corona virus; with schools presumed to be “super spreaders.”
In one of his previous addresses, President Museveni hinted on opening schools only if a greater percentage of the learners is vaccinated first yet majority of these do not qualify for the available vaccine since the jab is more effective with adults above 18 years of age.
However, University students and other learners above the minimum required age were recently advised to go for the vaccine shot as soon as they can, a collective effort to restore the Education operations.
