On Thursday 5th March, 2020 Leah Nasasira and Ritah Nahurira celebrated their 24th birthday together as twins on this earth amidst family and friends. Little did they know that would be that last birthday they would ever share together.
Four days after their birthday, Ritah bid farewell to her twin sister and mother and left home to head to work in Ntinda. However, on her way to work, she got involved in an accident as her speeding boda boda rider hurriedly hit humps in Kanyanya as he sped past a truck and unfortunately Ritah flew off the boda and fell into the tyres of the truck and she died on spot. And just like that, her goodbye to her sister and mother on Monday morning was her last goodbye.
Ritah and Leah graduated from Makerere University in January 2018 after pursuing Bachelor’s degrees in Quantitative Economics and Social Sciences respectively. The two were already pursuing their Masters and were set to graduate in 2021.
Anyone who knew Ritah would probably refer to her as an Angel because she was everything that God probably looks out for when picking his Angels. She was selfless, she was a cheerful giver, a hardworking person, a very brilliant person and above all she loved her God.
In the Requiem mass that was held Tuesday morning at Jinja Kaloli Catholic Church, a lot of things were said about the deceased but to point out one major thing about her, was her service in the church. At the age of 24, it is very rare to find someone who has dedicated themselves to serve God in church. Most young people are taken up by so many things of the world, but that wasn’t Ritah. She sung and conducted the choir in church at her young age.
Even though her death was very sudden and unexpected, I believe that Ritah has completed her mission on earth that God assigned her to do. She now goes on to become a guardian angel to many.
To Leah her twin sister, it is impossible to probably imagine what you have going on right now because you lost a piece of you, a piece with-whom you entered this world with. But like you said in church, Ritah was your guardian angel on earth and now she goes on to look after you from above.
To the entire Muhimbo family and friends of Ritah, you’ll probably start to ask questions of why and why Ritah had to go at such a young age, but the same God who placed her in our lives is the same God that has taken her. He will also comfort and fill the gap that she has left.
May Ritah’s soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
