Describe your normal working day?
As you can see for yourself I am a busy man. I wake up at 7am, work till 11pm sometimes. I never leave office before 10pm. There is no time for me to waste.
What are your future plans?
To work hard, come up with great new investment ideas, invest in new sectors, ensure that my management is stable and strong. My plan is to work hard in next 50 years. My work will justify where I will be. I want to be the same Rajiv with greater knowledge, more understanding, bigger decision making, and fast action.
What do you love and hate most about Uganda?
Uganda is a beautiful country, I love the people, I enjoy the freedom and the opportunities available to do business. However I hate laziness of some Ugandans. Also I hate it that when Ugandans don’t know something, they don’t ask. When you don’t ask, you never learn.
If you were to meet God, what would you ask Him and what would you want to change about you?
I would ask God nothing but thank Him for life and for putting me here. There is nothing I want changed about me.
What is your love life like? What is the one important thing you look for in a woman?
I have a girlfriend, she is in the UK. It’s a long distance relationship, difficult but we manage somehow. My type of woman must be intelligent, inspirational, loving, caring, and understanding not nagging all the time. A woman who gives you space to live your life.
What advice do you give to people who look up to you?
They must be honest to themselves and work hard; that way people will trust and give them opportunities.
Tell us something people don’t know about you.
I’m a very simple person, who just likes nice things but I work for them.
When was the last time you cried?
Long time, 15 years ago at my grandmother’s funeral. I’m not an emotional person.
What are your three dream destinations
I’m an explorer, I go to places I’ve never been to.
Most inspirational book you’ve read?
I don’t read much, I don’t have much time
Your favorite movie?
I really enjoyed watching Wolf of Wall Street. It was partly about hard work, partying, craziness and enjoying your work. There was something you could learn.
When have you been most satisfied in your life?
When I see people succeeding.
Who inspires you most in life?
My father Sudhir Ruparelia.
Women or cars?
Both, they come hand in hand. First you get the money, and then the cars and the women come.
Beer or Whiskey
Whisky but it depends on what time day it is. If it’s a warm hard work day then I would start with beer then finish with whiskey.
