“The challenge to this generation of European leaders is to build a community for the whole of Europe. The bigger vision is for the nations to build Europe, not for Europe to attempt to supersede nations.” UK Prime Minister Sir John Major with a euro sceptical tone wrote in The Economist.

Indulging Sir Major’s words out of context, relate to the East African setup will reveal the definite objective why the East African Community was formed. However over … journeys, it’s profoundly visible the East African youth, the leaders of tomorrow has been trashed and closed out on prevalent issues closely affecting him while the grey haired potbellies continue making the decisions.

So under Article 9 of the Inter – University Council of East African Act 2008 whose bill was passed by the East African Legislative Assembly on 23rd September 2008, enacted and assented to by the five heads of state of the East African Community, formed the Inter – University Council of East African a governing body that would help increase youth representation and participation in the East African.

The gist of the debate being, “This house will increase youth participation in the East African Integration.” The government basing on the …… out that with 70% youth around East Africa, it had devised strategy to use numbers to increase participation through social media and partnership with corporate sector and specifically looking at the university students to represent those outside youth in the East African Integration.

Effectiveness meaning value and quality not necessarily quantity, the opposition argued out that governments had no clear strategies and policies it’d suggest and clung to numbers majoring with the university student was is really absurd because it would have clearly thrown out the other no campus going elite category. Therefore it would be really right to opt for mass sensitization of the general population and democracy whereby the youth vote for their representatives. This is because even the campus group the government relies to for numbers too falls short on some criteria like patriotism and vision. Take for instance barely a quarter of the East African elite campus class can rhyme to the East African Community anthem or sing its lyrics without fault.

Its upholding the status core, the government comprised of the LLB and Theology class beat the opposition led by the education faculty and Business faculty. The theology faculty where announced winners of this year’s Truth Debate. With Peter Ahebwa winner of best debater. Kato Andrew and Maria Dinda coming next respectively.
