In a tweet dated 21st July 2021, the Russian embassy in Uganda congratulated Dr. Bosco Odonga who recently married his longtime Russian lover.
“We are happy to learn that Bosco Odonga who was once a child soldier from Uganda, got married in Russia. In 2004 he was rescued by a Russian volunteer and eventually came to live and study in our country, where he became a certified cardiologist. Congratulations!”
According to reports, Odonga was recruited as a child soldier by the Lord’s Resistance Army a rebel group that initially operated in Northern Uganda, South Sudan. However, in 2004 he was rescued by a Russian volunteer who took him to Russian, where he was raised and educated.
Currently, Odonga is one of the top certified cardiologists in Russia.
As of now, a number of victims who were affected by the LRA activities have been able to acquire education and turn life around after being helped by the government, charitable organizations and individuals.
