International University of East Africa yesterday launched their signature pageantry for Mr and Miss University at the campus headquarters in Kansanga. The launch attracted scribes from the media, students and administration officials.
Unlike other pageants, this edition is aimed at boosting confidence and self esteem of international students in Uganda and also adapt to the new environment around. Speaking at the launch, the Dean of Students beseeches that students join regardless of their fears and worries.
“Everyone is welcome to join, it will be up to the judges to decide if you are fit to be the Mr and Miss IUEA. Simply realise your potential and no one should stop you,” she noted.
Present at the launch too was IUEA fresher Bobi Wine who is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Law at the Kansanga Based University caused wild chats as he was tasked to explain why he is not participating in the pageantry and also should to perform an acappella before he leaves.
“When am at IUEA, I’m not Bobi Wine but am Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi a law student. Since am here for law and lawyers don’t like being in a showbiz world, I will respect that”, Bobi Wine joked sending the crowd in wild chants and laughter.
The Mr and Miss International University of East Africa (IUEA) will be unveiled at the big event University shall be marking their 5th anniversary through celebrations slated for 7th October at the Main auditorium. The new Mr and Miss shall be replacing the reigning Mr & Miss IUEA John Iwueke and Ariane Ndaliko.
“The crowning of the university’s new king and queen will coincide with anniversary celebrations to mark five years of success’, The Dean of students revealed.
Interested participants were tasked to grace a mini walkway as they made their way to the registration table. Over 30 students were registered on the launch night and many more were expected to register as the deadline was extended.
“Due to public demand, the administration has accepted to extend the registration till next week since majority students that were interested in participating were not at campus”, the night’s MC Keith Karuhuura announced.
Mr and Miss IUEA shall both be rewarded with a 100 percent bursary while the 1st and 2nd runners up Mr and Miss IUEA will receive a partnership Crystal Models and Joram Model Management for one year.
