No such beauty and glamour has been displayed than that which was at the Uganda Christian University (UCU) Annual Lawyers’ dinner at the Pearl of Africa Hotel last weekend. An event that was styled “Glamour at the Pearl”.
The fashionated law students suited the “slay” description. This is despite that some of them find the word offensive or rather secular, there was no better suiting analogy, but slay, perhaps in the Christian perspective.
You could tell the ladies shared the same height with the gents, or even looked more height-ed from the extra inch on their heels, or was it the perception the elegant dresses brought out?
The ladies wore very fitting and extremely long descent dresses, the kind that needed an assistant like the matrons in those weddings to help hold the extra pieces of the sweeping garments, that were persistently left behind after each step.
It was a huge investment that evening how the students looked just to fit in the hotel. Not to mention, you could not place a figure on some of the attire that evening, any price you name is an understatement. But yes, there was the million prized dress. She was beautiful.
The distinguished Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereirwe, the Patron of the university law society, and her husband shared a united message to the students as they urged them to be the lawyers without borders.
This was the same message by Frank Gimara, the outgoing president of the Uganda Law Society advised that the students to not just be lawyers, but with character. There was also a speech from Ms. Roselyn Karugonjo, the acting dean at the event.
The event doubled as a handover ceremony for the new cabinet of the UCU law society as the inaugural law society awards were launched.
Opinions about the food, the after party at the Wave Lounge or about the entire organisation of the event will not be made since they would destroy the mood in the story.
The beauty and glamour for now is what is on everyone’s lips.
