Dorcus Inzikuru, Uganda’s one-time gold medalist and world female athletics champion finally bid farewell to books at the 19th graduation ceremony of Ndejje University.
Dorcus Inzikuru won the inaugural world title in women’s 3000 m steeplechase, as well as the first Commonwealth title in the event.
Education
In recent years, she did a qualified sports instructor diploma course at Victoria Sports Academy in Kampala. Inzikuru later joined Uganda Christian University(UCU) in Mukono to pursue a Bachelor’s of Mass Communication but did not complete the course as home chores and other commitments caught up with her- being a mother of one girl.
Dorcus Inzikuru’s education journey finally resurrected this year after she graduated with a Bachelor in Business Administration at Ndejje University’s 19th graduation that took place last Friday. Inzikuru had been studying on weekend at Kampala campus of Ndejje University.
“I am over joyed, it’s been long taking into account that I almost left education for good till this day. It’s never too late to pursue my remaining dreams despite the age,” the proud Inzikuru told Campus Bee when we contacted her for a comment.
The born of February 2, 1987 has been struggling in her sports career ever since she won Gold for Uganda and only God knows what awaits her in her new profession.
