When Uganda Breweries Limited unveiled the Sip Sip Samba promotion in 2014, Musa Kisibo, an employee of Uchumi Supermarket in Kampala was among the first people to jump into the campaign.
A few weeks later, he was announced as one of the winners of a fully paid trip to Brazil. In July 2014, he together with 29 other winners traveled to Sao Paolo, Brazil.
When UBL this year announced that it was launching Guinness’ National Consumer Promotion dubbed, Get Booked, win a trip to the UK to watch a live football match, Kisibo is at it again.
He is already reaping dividends as he has won close to UGX40,000 worth of airtime in the ongoing promotion.
“I won a trip of a lifetime to Brazil. That trip opened my eyes and now, I am participating in this promotion because I want to travel to the United Kingdom. I want to assure everyone out there that these things (trips) are real, I am a good example,” an ecstatic Kisibo stated.
The Guinness ‘GET BOOKED’ Campaign will see six lucky Ugandans travel to the United Kingdom to watch their favorite teams and players live in action.
To participate in the promotion, customers have to buy Guinness, check under the crown for a code and then send an SMS with the code to 6050 for a chance to win either instant airtime or enter the grand draw for a chance to win a trip to the UK. The more codes one sends, the higher their chances of winning.
Up to UGX 800,000,000 worth of airtime will be won under the crown. There will be at least 8000 airtime winners every week for 18 weeks. Six lucky consumers will also get a chance to travel to the UK to watch a live match.
There are also in bar activations ongoing in various bars where consumers found drinking Guinness from the magnificent ‘tower-serve’ by mystery referees will ‘Get Booked’ to win instant prizes.
“Get Booked is a fun replica of the ‘Red Card, Yellow Card’ football concept that will be brought to life in-bar by Guinness. The promotion will reward every consumer who buys Guinness,” Phoebe Nakabazzi, the Guinness Brand Manager explains.
The promotion runs till December 2015 and is only open to Guinness consumers above the age of 18 country wide.
The GET BOOKED promotion will also bring live football action closer to Ugandans through a partnership between Guinness and NBS Television – the only local English Premier League free to air broadcast station in the country. The monthly draws to pick winners of the trip to the UK will also be broadcast live on NBS television with the first draw scheduled for September 23, 2015.
