Happening right now at National Water and Sewerage Corporation in Bugolobi is the 2nd Inter generational Dialogue under the theme “Nurturing and strengthening linkages between the young and older generations to address the current Sexual Reproductive Health needs in Uganda.”
This is a dialogue pinned by Reach a Hand Uganda which seeks to put together all critical stakeholders to find solutions towards the problems faced by youth and to forge a way for young people to confidently deal with issues of their sexuality and reproductive health. Uganda is a country with a life expectancy of 59 years, 48.7% young people below 15 and 21.2% of young people between 15-24 years and with the rising sexual reproductive problems faced by the youths, the increasing number of STDs, teenage pregnancies, early marriage, rape and abortions, the youth have to be empowered so as to be able to tackle any occurrence about their sexual and reproductive health.
The morning session comprised of a ‘breakaway session’ in three segments tackling 3 topics;
- Engaging boys and men as care giving partners in social change to improve the health of women, children and men, to stop GBV and build respectful relationships
- Cultural and religious leaders’ role in empowering young people with knowledge and skills for informed life decision making.
- Policy formulation, implementation and best approaches on measuring impact for young people’s benefit.
All targeting youth inclusiveness and sexual reproductive health policy formulation and implementation.
