Who is Ruma?
The humble graduand is a son to Mr. Atim Robert Kennedy and Teacher of St. Katherine Secondary School Lira and Mrs Anaa Jacinta Atim a textile Science instructor.
“I started school from Banya primary (P.1) school (Current day Kwania District),” in an exclusive interview with Campus Bee said.
He then joined Apac Model PS from P.2- P.5. “At that point being form a village school, I didn’t know English,” he confessed. “I started struggling hard to make it to the top right from P.2 with much love for science subject.” He added.
Ruma further narrated to Campus Bee;
“In P.4 I started learning English, that’s where I realized I could read and understand my notes. From P.5 I challenged the colleagues who used to Top in class and I merged the best in second term.
From there, I realized that I can only be the best if I know English well. I prayed to God to make me learn and understand English.
I left Apac Model PS in 2007 and joined Cornerstone Primary School, Lira, where I was always the best in class even in PLE. ( Scored 9agg).
I joined Dr. Obote College Boroboro in 2010 for my O level. I was already determined and I knew what I wanted. I continued with the focus, discipline, and having good friends around me.
My performance kept improving greatly and I scored 23agg in O level in 2014 UCE.
I then joined Lugazi Mixed School Nalyaa in 2015 starting with BCM. However I learnt about food and nutrition subject in S.5.
I have all along wanted to be a health worker, knowing that at University there is Program called Human Nutrition which focuses on Food, substance in food and Human health, I immediately changed my program to BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, FOOD AND NUTRITION.
It was the most interesting and comfortable combination that made me enjoy my study in Lugazi Mixed School Nalyaa.
I remaind the best in my class and I scored 15points in UACE in 2016.
In Pujab, I applied for Bsc. Human Nutrition and Dietetics at Kyambogo. I was given this program on government sponsorship.
My whole life and study in Kyambogo University was very interesting because I chose the course I had wanted and liked.
From the beginning I prayed to have first class and be the best. It’s today that the lord has answered my prayers.(CGPA 4.93).
His advice to fellow students what aspire to excel
First love the program you are doing. Secondly know what you want in life, if it’s success struggle hard to achieve it.
I knew parents had no connections but I wanted to be known for success one day.
