In a heartwarming and moving speech during the Busoga Royal wedding on Saturday November 18th, 2023, Queen of Busoga, Jovia Mutesi, revealed the pivotal role played by Kyabazinga Wilberforce William Gabula IV in guiding her educational journey. The Queen expressed her gratitude for the Kyabazinga’s advice that led her to pursue her studies at Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi instead of Makerere University.
“When I left Namagunga, I came to Makerere. They gave me Economics. After offering me economics, I saw it was not meant for me since our family is full of accounts. While at Makerere, I met my friends Eric and Derrick who were friends with the Kyabazinga before me. In that confusion, I wondered who would give me sound advice on where to go—Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi or stay at Makerere University. The person who gave the advice was the Kyabazinga of Busoga. He told me that since he had studied Economics, I should go to Nkozi and see how things pan out,” shared Queen Jovia.
On her graduation day, the Queen expressed her gratitude, stating, “On my graduation, he congratulated me for studying well. I thank God for giving me that confusion of choosing a course at campus because if it wasn’t for that confusion, I would not have met my best friend and now husband, the King of Busoga. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in finance and accounting.”
Queen Jovia’s touching revelation highlighted the Kyabazinga’s role not only as a royal leader but also as a mentor and advisor, guiding the Queen in making crucial life decisions. The Busoga Royal wedding was not only a celebration of love and union but also a testament to the power of wise counsel and the unexpected paths that lead to destiny.
