As the 21st Kyambogo University guild elections approach, the National Unity Platform (NUP) has officially declared Mugalya Humphrey as their flag bearer.
Mugalya emerged victorious in the party primaries, held at the NUP head offices in Kavule, where he garnered an overwhelming 259 votes.
His closest competitor, Akiso Benjamin, managed only 6 votes, marking a decisive victory for Mugalya.
In a statement following the primaries, the NUP leadership expressed their congratulations to Mugalya and urged the Kyambogo University student community to rally behind him as their ideal candidate.
“We appeal to the Kyambogo University students fraternity to embrace a leader that stands for their values. That is none other than Mugalya Humphrey,” the party tweeted.
In recent years, NUP has enjoyed an impressive record in institutions of higher learning where most of the flag bearers end up winning the final poll.
The upcoming guild elections have generated much attention, and with the official endorsement from NUP, Mugalya’s candidacy is expected to gain significant momentum on campus.
