In light of the circular from the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) dated 5th August, 2021 on the re-opening of medical schools and training institutions on the 13th August 2021, the Makerere University Senate met earlier on Monday and approved the re-opening proposal by the College of Health Sciences (CHS).
This proposal highlighted the college’s readiness to open for clinical students and subsequently, for the non-clinical students. This undertaking was preceded by a meeting with the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs on 5th August 2021.
The college administration, headed by the Principal, Prof. Damalie Nakanjako intimated in a communique issued yesterday that the college is indeed ready and will undoubtedly re-open for clinical students on Friday this week.
In that respect, there will be immediate commencement of Examinations for post-graduate students and the college departments have been advised to revise and submit timetables to the respective schools and then to the College Registrar.
Secondly, on return of the clinical students and the non-clinical students subsequently, the undergraduate students will use the first 2 weeks for examinations and the respective schools have been enjoined to submit timetables to that end.
Ultimately, the College Principal noted that details on the procedure of return to halls of residence, shall be provided before the D-day for reporting.
