OKELLO HERBERT
Death is a monster, he strikes when least expected. He’s non discriminative .He’s a very unwanted guest.
When death knocks on your, and you reply there’s no seat for him, he asks you not to worry for he’s carried his own seat.
Of late something unexpected has befallen our higher institutions of learning. Mysterious deaths are silently wreaking havoc, crashing dreams.
Last week a hitherto normal and healthy girl at Mubs was found lying cold and stiff, she’d mysteriously died in her room. It’s very scary as much as it’s sad.
Mystery isn’t all to blame. Our universities aren’t safe in the night, wrong elements sprawl the campuses in the night in search of easy targets.
The outskirts of Universities aren’t safe one bit, often iron bar hit men swing into action when the sun goes down. Areas around Banda, Kikoni, Nakawa, are not safe past eleven.
Last month a Muk Student clobbered and his body tossed in a trench as he returned from a party.
The health facilities in most universities are lamentable, ill stocked under staffed. Universities should take the initiative and engage in health drives. Free checkups should be offered and students should be encouraged to attend the same.
The authorities should appreciate the fact that their very existence depends on the students.
And vigilance on our part should solve the deaths, report any suspicious elements. Don’t get too wasted by intoxicants.
Peace.
