Following the partial lifting of the lockdown, National Council for Higher Education permitted medical schools and health training institutions to open for final year students as soon as 13th August this year.
The academic registrar of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) Dr. Martha Kyoshaba has a well revealed the requirements required for medical students as they are planning to report back next week.
In a memo sent to all medical finalists, Dr. Martha said that it will be mandatory for all students to be vaccinated so as to protect the learners from the deadly corona virus.
‘’I write to invite for in-person classes for semester 11, 2021 on Monday 23rd august 2021. You are advised to have the under listed, for your safety and everyone around you’’ the memo reads in part.
The students are requested to report with the following;
- A box of surgical masks
- Sanitizer bottles for refilllimg when the sanitizer is finished
- Clinical/laboratory coats
- Light blue scrubs for MBChB students
‘’Every final year medical student will be required to be vaccinated. The faculty of medicine together with Mbarara regional referral hospital have agreed to prioritize you when the vaccines are available’’ the memo reads further.
