Reigning 16 year old Mirinda Miss Teen- Vaneesa Nansoove has dedicated time to the underprivileged by spending a day with the Missionaries of the Poor where she also made a donation as part of her social responsibility.
Speaking to the members of the missionaries of the poor located in Nalukolongo- Rubaga, Nansoove said that every person has a role to play as part of their social responsibility and called upon her fellow youth to join her in the cause.
“We must all embrace our social responsibility to the community and stop under looking the needs of the less fortunate. They do not live in poverty by choice but by circumstances beyond their control. I want to thank the brothers and sisters of the Missionaries of the Poor for the continued support they offer the hundreds of needy people not only in Uganda but in other countries as well. I urge all my fellow youth to join us in this cause and contribute whatever they can to better the lives of our brothers and sisters in poverty stricken areas.”
Among the contributions made were 20 cartons of soda from Mirinda, toiletries and food supplies that Nansoove collected from her friends and family.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Missionaries of the Poor, Brother Loubert expressed gratitude to Mirinda Miss Teen for the kind gesture and further urged parents to instil giving hearts among their children through continued practice of making similar donations.
“We are honored to have you here with us today and are very grateful for the support you have accorded us. I must commend Vaneesa and her mother for working as a team to see that this day is a success. Based on this, I’d like to encourage parents to teach their children the value of giving. We know that giving has never killed anybody. It only instills a sense of purpose and earns you respect and more in the long run. I therefore look forward to seeing more acts of kindness and responsibility practiced by the youth who are our future leaders.”
The search for the 2016 Mirinda Miss Teen is expected to resume in April this year.
