MTN Upgrades customers Internet experiences with FREE 4G SIM card swaps

  • MTN customers with 4G capable devices can now exchange their old SIM cards with a FREE 4G card at any MTN Service Centre.
  • Every MTN customer that exchanges their old SIM for a 4G SIM card also gets with it 1GB of FREE data
  • The 4G SIM card upgrade guarantees positive customer experiences when using MTN data. This means faster download and upload speeds and very minimal buffering.
  • MTN’s 4G network covers all major towns across Uganda.

 This month, MTN Uganda is offering FREE 4G SIM cards to all MTN customers with 4G enabled devices whether smartphones, tables, dongles or routers. MTN customers can now exchange their old cards with a 4G SIM card at any MTN Service Centre across Uganda. The objective of this exercise is to ensure that MTN data customers have the best Internet experience during downloads and uploads or during buffering of audio and video files. 4G LTE technology has the potential to operate at speeds of up to 100mbps, which is almost triple the speed of any existing mobile connection available commercially in Uganda, and the wider region.

In addition to the FREE SIM swaps, all customers who exchanges their old cards for the 4G SIM cards and also each get a FREE 1GB data bundle. The resultant positive experience of customers using the Internet on MTN Uganda’s 4G network is intended to and will certainly lead to an increased use of Internet and further drive data penetration across the country. MTN’s 4G LTE network covers all major towns in Uganda including Kampala, Entebbe, Mbale, Mbarara, Lira, Arua, Gulu, Kabale, Kasese, Fort Portal, Moroto, Masaka and Jinja.

The FREE 4GM SIM offer is available to all MTN customers with 4G enabled devices but is valid for a limited time only.

According to MTN Uganda’s Chief Marketing Officer, Ms. Mapula Bodibe, the offer is testament to MTN’s commitment to offering the best value for money for customers by guaranteeing an unmatched world-class Internet experience.

“Our goal is to ensure all our customers are getting the best possible value for their money. This initiative also falls directly in line with our vision to Deliver a Bold, New Digital World to our customers”, commented Ms. Mapula.

“Business across the world is now done online and through the Internet individuals and organizations can enhance their productivity through quicker and easier access to information. So MTN is playing its part in ensuring positive experiences for our customers using the Internet by investing in technologies like 4G and introducing the latest compatible smartphones and other devices. We’re also breaking down barriers to entry by ensuring that we offer affordable data enabled phones like the MTN Smart Series range” she concluded.
