Makerere University’s team of two Law students, Martha Kabasinguzi and Lucia Ndanga Ruvarashe is set to represent the School of Law at the All Africa Moot Court to be held in Stellenbosch University South Africa from the 20th to 25th September 2021.
In Law Schools’ context, a moot court competition simulates a court hearing (usually an appeal against a final decision), in which participants analyse a problem, research the relevant law, prepare written submissions, and present oral argument. Moot problems are typically set in areas of law that are unsettled or that have been subject to recent developments. They usually involve two grounds of appeal, argued by each side.
Makerere University’s all-female team emerged best during the Internal Moot competitions held at campus’ School of Law. They will tussle it out with other Universities that include;
- Africa Nazarene University- Kenya
- Kenyatta University- Kenya
- Kabarak University – Kenya
- University of Ghana- Ghana
- University of Johannesburg- South Africa
- University Of Western Cape- South Africa
