President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has given the country an update on schools reopening. While addressing the nation on Thursday evening, Museveni okayed a “staggered” reopening of semi candidate classes since candidates will sit and complete their examinations.
While speaking about students in institutions of higher learning, Museveni said that university students understand online learning more than elementary (high school) students.
“The learners (at higher institutions of learning) are more advanced and are already studying online. Those that require practical lessons, especially for the science courses (students), it is important for them to go (to campus) and hold practical classes instead of long distance education,” President Museveni told the nation.
Museveni also revealed that the academic year 2019/2020 will end in July 2021 so that the learners after six months more complete their academic year.
The president however did not specify which years (campus) will be allowed to report for face-to-face lectures apart from students pursuing science and technology courses.
We shall be updating you, our readers as different universities will be guiding their students on the staggered manner of reopening.
