A group of eight young girls in their senior six vacation from Mt St Mary’s Namagunga within Hope Flag Campaign under Uganda Child Cancer Foundation on July 4th organised a show dubbed “Talent for Cancer”, which took place at the National Theatre. All proceeds that they collected were on Monday, August 3, handed over to the Uganda Children’s Cancer Foundation.
“We donated to Uganda Children’s Cancer Foundation shs11,750,000 (Eleven Million Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Uganda Shillings]. This money was handed over to Dr Oryem Jackson, the head of Mulago Cancer Institute,” Shamim Nsongo, one of the group’s social media publicist told this website.
She added: “We as Hope Flag Campaign are very high on accountability and we have come up with an action plan that will cover for three months starting this month. And each month we’ll combat and strive to achieve the three problem areas we’re targeting; transport, food and nutrition and sanitation. However our work won’t stop there as we’ll continue to work with the hospital by checking on patients. As well our next project is with Hon. Nusura Tiperu in promoting awareness of hepatitis B in the youth.”
A big shout outs to these young girls with big hearts. Change in your society begins with you- and these girls are evidently impacting on many lives!
