The Islamic University on Uganda (IUIU) has advised its students to get COVID-19 vaccine jabs to be allowed back on campus.
According to the university Academic Registry’s office, the students will be required to present immunisation card against COVID-19 at the campus. The university has also advised the students to always observe Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when schools reopens next month.
“You will be expected to report at your respective campuses from 8:00 am -5:00 pm on 1st November, 2021. Kindly , take note that you will be required to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) put in place by the Ministry of Health and the National Council for Higher Education against the spread of COVID-19,” reads a statement issued by the academic registry’s office.
Mandatory wearing of face masks when in public places, social/physical distancing when in public places such as lecture rooms, laboratories etc , washing hands regularly and regular temperature monitoring are some of SOPs that the university will enforce.
The Islamic University says there shall be strict crosschecking to ensure that all the requirements are adhered to on arrival before entry into the institution.
“There will be a University COVID-19 Task Force led orientation on COVID-19 Management and prevention measures on reporting which is compulsory for all students to attend; and you will also be issued with other university – specific guidelines for use of different facilities at the university,” reads a statement.
The measures will apply in all IUIU campuses namely Main Campus in Mbale, Kampala Campus in Kampala, Females’ Campus in Wakiso and Arua Campus in Arua.
