Kampala International University (KIU) Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mouhammad Mpezamihingo has said that other universities in Uganda can benchmark from KIU.
This was after the Kansanga based campus was ranked second best university after Makerere and the best private university in Uganda. This is according to the latest webometrics rankings.
“We have set the pace and hopefully we can help other institutions to benchmark with us to make things happen at their end” he said.
Dr Mpezamihingo added: “Maintaining this ranking for more than a year is an indication of how a private university is delivering on all fronts, including teaching, research, innovation and community engagement.
We are delighted once again to be the leading private university and a reflection of KIU’s resilience and persistence through the hard times. We will increase our focus and determination to do things in the best way possible.
Our target is to continue to produce relevant, appropriate and global graduates skilled and entrepreneurial enough to survive the current job market scarcity and empower them to be job creators where jobs are unavailable”.
In the same rankings, Mbarara University of Science and Technology came in third position whereas Kyambogo and Gulu universities came in fourth and fifth respectively.
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is an initiative of the cybermetrics lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior De Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain.
