On Saturday 10th September 2016, it was a bow tie affair as scanted individuals around University were seen making way to Imperial Royale Hotel Kampala for the Bwera-Ntare Dinner.
Bwera-Ntare is an association bringing together Old Boys of Ntare School, Mbarara and Old Girls of Bweranyangi Girls’ Senior Secondary School in Bushenyi.
The event that transpired in the Hotel’s Sunflower Hall and was attended by the Minister for Kampala Ms. Betty Olive Kamya who was also the guest of honour. The university students reflected on their association’s 20 year journey with a lot of nostalgia as they recalled some of their magical moments at their old schools.
Nothing beats an event more than drama and a little confusion, this happened as one of the students who was in charge of the auctioning session of old memorabilia from the schools mistakenly refereed to Hon Betty Kamya as Betty Nambooze. However, instead of the minister lashing out, she couldn’t hold her laughter.
During the event, a school fees project to benefit their former schools was launched and the starter was provided by Lions’ Credit – a Savings Association of alumni from the two schools. By 1 Am, preparations for the after party were underway.
