The Young Bosses Academy that ran from Monday 8th August to Friday 12th August at the International University of East Africa [IUEA] conducted by Africa Elevation was concluded in style with the International Youth Day Celebrations.
The function that was graced by David Beecham Okwere a Youth Ambassador to the East African Community [EAC] wasn’t only graduation for the students that attended the five day rigorous entrepreneurship course but also involved a discussion panel that mainly looked at Global Goal 1 [No Poverty] and Goal 12 [Responsible Consumption and Production] with emphasis on the Youth.
The panel consisted of Eric Kaduru [CEO Kad Africa], Joseph Ssenyange [CEO Special Minds Initiative], Shane Mclean [CEO Staffable], Nakiyaga Zahara [Miss Uganda 2015/16], Irene Kakonge [CEO African Secrets Magazine] and two students from the Young Bosses Academy including Timothy Nkenu Noma, CEO Rent Hostels.
The panelists encouraged young people to have a goal in mind and not to always focus on the money as it could become a distraction. “Money shouldn’t be the first thing on your mind,” Nakiyaga advised. Shane Mclean also advised students to embrace change and growth, “when you start with something small, it’s going to grow, and you have to let it,” he added.
The ceremony was concluded with certificate awarding where over 100 students were awarded certificates of participation by David Beecham Okwere after which students were wowed by performances from Young Cardamom and Hab.
