Uganda Network Of Young People Living With HIV&AIDS [UNYPA], organised the third edition of the Y Plus beauty pageant that was concluded on Saturday at Golf Course Hotel.
18-year-old Natukunda Triphena took the crown in the third edition of the Y Plus beauty pageant. Natukunda is now expected to become a traveling ambassador in the fight against AIDS and to also empower other young people living positively with hope for a bright future. Mr. Y Plus was Kirabira Henry who is also to stand strong for other youth. The two winners were given a full one year scholarship sponsored by UNYPA.
The beauty pageant that was under the theme “Beauty with Zero discrimination” was organised in a bid to empower young people and to give them hope of a bright future, living positively.
There were 16 contestants for the Miss and Mr. Y Plus this year all hailing from different parts of the country. The contestants were taken for boot camp at Farm Village Uganda in Kiboga where they trained and experienced many farming skills and also helped locals to plant their crops like Irish potatoes.
Pastor Wilson Bugembe who crashed the party on Saturday told his story of how he lost a sibling and his parents to HIV thus encouraging young people to be strong and to always put their lives first.
