Your Saturday just got brighter with the Misono Hub live at Yasigi Beer Gardens where different fashion designers will be showcasing some of their original pieces hand crafted by them.
Some of the best DJs in town will grace the event and will be taking you through the ones and twos. DJ Kiggz, DJ TNT, DJ Naselow, and DJ Ciza- it’s going to be a lit night fam.
For the love of art and creating awareness about open spaces for young people to improve their craft, we managed to get in touch with Melvin Kiyimba one of the organizers- this is what he had to say;
Why Misono Hub?
Misono is Luganda for Trends, we wanted to create a meeting point for Ugandan fashion trends and whatnot hence Misono Hub.
What inspired Misono Hub series?
I’ve always felt like Uganda has a lot of unexplored talent lying low. We are a multi-cultural country so that guarantees a diverse collection of art, thus the need to tap into that space.
How often will Misono Hub take place?
Well, Misono Hub is only the second part six-part series of events aimed at providing a platform for young Ugandan creatives to share their work and experiences to others so as improve their craft. They are six events that are bi-monthly and are set to run through the year. The first was #KifananyiHub and now #MisonoHub.
What are the other bi-events? The remaining four.
Film, Music, Technology and a mashup of everything at the end of the year- it will be epic.
Who are your other partners in this?
My other partners are; Alpha Media, Jumia Food, and Coffee House Uganda.
Who are some of the designers we expect to see there?
Aminata Mayanja, Cinda Adams, Kutasha M’sango, Nankanja Martha, Bave, and many more- we are trying to create a space for new and fresh talent in arts.
Entrance to the event is entirely free, and the event starts at 2pm, come get inspired by young, fresh, cool talent and fashion- this is something that you shouldn’t miss for anything.
