Uganda Police Force over the weekend succeeded in one of their series to keep law and order in Makerere University surroundings especially Kikoni, a “no-go-area” in the dark with the arrest of several suspects linked to “Kiface” (Night thugs). The good news was publicized by the Force’s Chief Political Commissar Asan Kasingye.
Makerere Kikoni has holds an infamous record of most theft related cases amongst Makerere University students; some labelling it a dark corner in the dark. Countless phones, laptops, cash and other belonging have always drowned into the ocean of merciless thugs that at times physically harm their victims.
The crackdown followed the massive cry outs; pushing the in-charge to press harder on the issue. An earlier shared text showed AIGP Asan Kasingye calling on the officers around Makerere Kikoni to act with promptness on the matter.
“A group of hard-core criminals with a base in Makerere Kikoni is terrorising residents of Kawala, Makerere Kikoni, Kasubi and Namungona every night. Uganda Police Force come to the rescue of the people in these mentioned places. KMP Commander, D/KMP, Crime Intelligence KMP,DPC Wandegeya, DPC Old Kampala, and OC Station Makerere Kikoni take note. Don’t wait until these criminals start murdering people, act now,” Afande Kasingye had advised a while ago.
