Today at KCCA Employment services, an internship platform spearheaded by Ms Vanessa Atim a professional CIM Marketer who studied from the London School of Marketing has been launched as part of the fight against unemployment. With an estimated 83% unemployment rate in Uganda and over 400,000 annual fresh graduates, Vanessa an up skilling youth and passionate developer has come out to get the unemployed students and fresh graduates sorted.
ProInterns is the go to platform for internship opportunities in Uganda, whether you are a fresh graduate looking for new opportunities to kick start your career or an employer searching for an intern to boost your business effectively.
This platform will allow graduates and students to easily connect with employers across Uganda through internship, volunteer and entry level opportunities.
This launching ceremony was graced by Hon. Betty Engola the woman member of parliament for Apach district who as a policy maker urged the university students and graduates to be disciplined and understand the reality of things as well as support the government during this struggle against unemployment.
In attendance too was Sam Ogwal the Common wealth Youth Council Representative for East Africa. While addressing the congregation, Sam assured them of how the lives of young people have to change through ProInterns as he believes that young people can employ themselves. He also thanked Vanessa Atim the Founder and CEO of ProInterns for accepting to use a docket of young people to impact on the Nation.
ProInterns has existed for about a year and some of its ambassadors gave testimony of how it has helped them. These included Ms Pamela Komugisha, Johnson Turyamushangayo and Innocent Bill all fresh graduates who through their testimonies praised ProInterns for in sighting them into the entrepreneurial world, teaching them how to write better CVs and how to conduct themselves during job interviews including how to talk and answer employers’ questions.
“ProInterns helped bridge the gap between me and the employers by getting me an internship place at Uganda Investment Authority where I have learnt a lot of skills. I therefore urge fellow students and graduates to link up with the platform as the outcomes are very evident ” said Innocent Bill one of the beneficiaries.
