Sheraton Kampala Hotel on Wednesday announced a partnership with the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Awards Dinner that will take place on November 28.
This self-development award program focuses youths aged 14 to 25. It aims at improving communities around the world by helping the young people acquire practical skills in the field of their passion. The program already has 35, 000 young Ugandans enrolled and taking part in it.
How you benefit
Once you enroll in this program, which is free, you’re entitled to one hour, per week of community service. You also get to be taught in the field of your choice by a member of the program, one hour a week. For example, if you have passion in radio presenting or graphics designing, you get to be taught by a member who has expertise in that field for 6 months. All in all, this award aims at empowering the youth through soft skills that include physical recreation, vocational skill development, like tailoring, woodwork, carpentry among others.
