Social Media fanatics in Uganda seem thrilled to hear that the only awards that appreciate social media usage in Uganda are back. The Social Media Awards 2016 are back after two successful runs.
Uganda’s Social Media Awards (SMAs) seek to recognise and bring together the individuals and organisations that are “at the front-line when it comes to using social media for entertainment, change, sharing of ideas, creating communities and talking to customers online.”
The awards were established by Blu Flamigo (a digital agency) to reward all those who ultimately utilise the power of social media platforms to build and engage with communities online. The SMAs will recognise and rewards blogs, tweeps, organisations/corporations based on the following categories;

- Best Consumer Brand
- Best Fast Moving Consumer Goods on Social Media
- Best Financial Brand on Social Media
- Best in Technology on Social Media
- Best Integrated Social Media Campaign
- Best Social Good Campaign
- Best Use of Social Media by a State body / Individual
- Best Video / YouTube Campaign
- Customer Care Across Social Media
- Innovation & Best Mobile App
- Social Media for News / Media
- Social Media for Small Business
The Social Media Awards committee is currently accepting nominations on the awards website (http://socialmediaawards.ug/) and the award ceremony will be held at the Kampala Serena Hotel on 10th March.
