Many people contest for the most craved for pageant in the land just to get a taste of fame and everything else that comes with winning the Miss Uganda pageant. That’s not the case with Irene Nakitende Kirabo.
Irene Nakitende Kirabo is a student of Journalism and Mass Communication at Ndejje University. “Why I thought of participating for this pageant is because I saw it as an opportunity that offers me a platform to go ahead doing my charity work,” she commented on asking why she chose to contest, “I also did it to restore hope to those that are hopeless or feel like they are hopeless,” she added.
Early last year, Nakitende published a book, The Haunted. Through using her talent as a writer, the vibrant and energetic Nakitende looks to empower young people by giving them hope.
Beauty with a purpose being the theme of the Miss Uganda pageant, Nakitende adds that one doesn’t need the government to become a successful person, “you are a woman of power, you are a woman of wonders,” she added.
Nakitende also takes care of a young girl called Gift who she got last year after she lost her parents. Gift is now 6 years and Nakitende is the one that takes care of all her needs. “You have to sacrifice and share the little you have because me and you can make this world a better place,” Nakitende concluded.
