Meet Angela Amate also known as Ange by her friends. A beautiful, strong and intelligent soul with the heart of giving back. Angela spends her time doing what she loves and that’s making sure those that lack have a chance to experience the goodness of those who have.
Ange is also part of the Ghetto Film Project which is a non-governmental organization in Kampala, Uganda that uses film, art and sports to rehabilitate, empower, mentor and tell stories from the slum/ghetto. She has also helped/ been part of the One Million cancer campaign which was a project to create awareness against cancer a disease claiming many lives.
A student of Mass Communication at Makerere university, she loves photography, dancing, writing, playing basketball, a lover of air Jordan (for those who know what it is) not forgetting her social aspect is what makes her stand out and be able to work well with others.
Amate is an inspiration to many especially those who love charity work, believe in giving back and creating awareness in society. Her smile can melt the hearts of those around her, her social aroma brings people closer because her need to do good is what bonds.
Angela Amate’s love for charity is overwhelming, she has put part of her education time aside to carry out what she loves which is helping the unfortunate. Juggling school and work which is not easy for most campus students but she does it quite easily.
Often times on Saturdays, she joins the Ghetto Film Project team when they go to the slums and ghettos of Kampala to teach the ghetto kids something new, she has spread photography skills to some ghetto kids who I bet are grateful she did.
She also featured in a short film “Crafts: The Value of Life” a film that was picked for the 9th Annual “FilmAid Film Festival” in Nairobi.
