With thieves evolving new ways each hour to take desired gadgets like phones, the government should as well come up with new crime strategies to deal with phone robberies.
It was around 9:00pm yesterday when residents of Olympia hostel were thrown into panic, fear and terror after one of them lost a phone to a thug while snap-chatting in the shuttle at the parking lot within the university.
Terrific screams led the chairs of the shuttle unoccupied as the hostel mates stood and gawked at a bold thug running at a horrifying speed through the back of the College of Natural Sciences (CoNaS) building into ‘God knows where’.
The shuttle drivers ran after the Tecno J5 phone thief but all in vain as their call for help to the near-by onlookers and the patrol police vehicle turned to deaf ears.
“The man has gone, people were just staring at us shouting, ‘thief, thief’,” a shuttle driver murmured.
The poor victim who was echoed by many to be a first year accepted her fate, after attempting to call her line several times hoping to get an answer in order to negotiate with the criminal. Hopes to get back her phone were shuttered after she realised that night-time was unfavorable for her to run to the authorities and have her gadget back with immediate effect.
It has hence been noted that thieves will stop at nothing but make lives of university students a living hell through rampant robberies and beatings, ‘obbutayimbwa’.
The hostel shuttles usually have their parking reserved next to the college of Natural Sciences in the evenings. Stay warned beloved students, someone is watching you.
Theft has now become a bigger issue than before especially to university students and the sad part is that you never know when they’ll strike so it’s better to take maximum care!!!
