Earlier today, Makerere University, through the Makerere Debating Union (MDU), kicked off its annual inter-collegiate debate tournament. This was done in conjunction with the Makerere Justice & Constitutional Affairs Ministry. This tournament is being held under the theme, “Covid-19 and the New Globalization Era.”
As a build-up, the Makerere Debating Union held a pre-tournament panel discussion on the theme of the tournament yesterday. The tournament has attracted 32 teams from across all Makerere University constituent colleges and schools and is expected to run from today until Thursday this week. This tournament is based on the much celebrated British Parliamentary Debate Model and a number of novice debaters across, have signed up to represent their colleges.
