DERRICK MUGABE
It takes a courageous heart to decide to keep the pregnancy amidst criticism from every corner of life and sometimes the responsible guys embrace the positive idea because their better halves who host the biggest burden do. It may seem quite puzzling to see that belle you always wanted to lay walk through campus displaying out loud to everyone how she had unprotected sex by portraying that unplanned and accidental letter D (pregnancy). First, during pregnancy, it’s never easy as you have to feel tired all the time and if you are a libraryholic, you have to chill those books on the fourth and fifth floors. Having to go for antenatal care and women there whisper to themselves of how you opened your legs so foolishly at a young age also sucks not forgetting that these sessions sometimes clash with important lectures and tests.
Luckily, you rock the examination period scared as a first time mother because you are never sure of the month in which you’ll hit the labour ward and if you are the unlucky one, you add to the world’s population in that period which is not healthy academically.
Praying not to undergo a caesarean birth or falling victim to maternal mortality, you storm the hospital amidst pain and no matter the kind of birth, there you come out with another responsibility. Well this is hard but the hardest part of it is having another life that depends on you for survival and since you can’t be there all time for it, you look for an experienced nanny to baby sit the little angel or sometimes leave it with family. In the watching castle is the Baby Papa and your family(if fortunate) that’s financing this expensive venture and not being easy to fund, most campus mums have to work out something to earn and supplement the financial support too.
Hell breaks loose in case the baby falls sick because you have to be by its side every time and even if you go to class, you surely leave your mind at home which disrupts your academic attention. Campus mums have to work within a certain daily schedule which includes waking up in the wee morning hours to prepare the baby’s daily food, cleaning laundry, taking them for medical check ups, helping and instructing maids on what to and not to do so the next time your campus mum classmate comes late for a discussion, pliz do not fume for you now know why they delay! Depending on what the academic schedule is, they have to keep up with regular checkups, breastfeeding which proves it hard to balance parenting and academics.
Despite the hustle they go through, these young mothers of the nation keep their nice looks and curves with them which when met on campus streets you cannot dare tell they are rushing off for a breastfeeding session….thumbs up for them…
Their caution to fellow campusers is that, ‘no matter what the situation is, do not abort because when you go for unprotected sex, you accept everything and the little tot is innocent. It actually does not participate in your sex marathon but it’s just a product so why punish it?’’ exclaims an anonymous campus mum.
Just be patient and do not abort the next Sevo or JPAM or even risk your life for lifetime impotence and sometimes even death in the process. And finally, pregnancy is not the worst situation because it’s something that’s meant to happen to a girl at any one point.
