In a culinary feat that promises to make history, Ugandan chef Dorcus Kirabo Bashebah is gearing up to attempt the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. The ambitious event is scheduled to take place on December 23, 2023, in Kira.
Bashebah, renowned for her culinary prowess and innovative dishes in Kampala, is set to embark on an extraordinary challenge, aiming to cook continuously for an astounding 121 hours without a break. This endeavor not only showcases her exceptional cooking skills but also serves as a testament to her determination and passion for the culinary arts.
The current longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119 hr 57 min 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland) in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from 28 September to 3 October 2023.
In preparation for the monumental cookathon, Chef Bashebah expressed her enthusiasm and extended an open invitation to the community, saying, “Whoever can eat and cheer me on, please come through. It will boost my spirits and mood.” The chef’s call for support reflects not only the physical demands of the record-breaking attempt but also the mental and emotional fortitude required to sustain such a prolonged cooking marathon.
The event is expected to draw attention not only from the local community but also from the culinary world at large. Achieving the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon would undoubtedly place Chef Dorcus Kirabo Bashebah among the elite ranks of culinary trailblazers.
