The above question appeared on a question paper of the 4th year Actuarial Science and Financial Economics at the Kenyan University of Strathmore. The trending question says a lot about the changing academic liberalism as African Universities appreciate the messages in mainstream arts.
The compulsory question, tested the students’ understanding of consumerism and its dangers, with reference to Lamar’s song, Vanity Slave.

It is rare that a university embeds contemporary hip-hop in an exam. However, several rappers including Lamar and Drake, have had their works form part of a University course material or class topic.
